About Gritz N' Wafflez

A Texas-inspired Southern breakfast and brunch spot serving shrimp n' gritz with seasoned shrimp over creamy grits, wingz paired with a mixed berry waffle and signature bourbon syrup, and Da Baddest Chick, fried chicken tenders with cheese, bacon and eggs on buttery Texas Toast. Catering is also available, and the kitchen takes reservations and runs a waitlist. Recipes are drawn from the owner's grandmother, Mama Zula.

Owner Jurni Rayne is a restaurateur from Dallas, Texas who moved to Los Angeles in 2014. She began working as a full-service restaurant server at 18, earned bachelor's degrees in Hospitality Administration and Spanish, and went on to work as a restaurant manager in Dallas and Los Angeles. Gritz N' Wafflez is her first restaurant concept, built on the recipes and lessons she absorbed from Mama Zula.
