About Ethiopic Restaurant

Traditional Ethiopian cooking on the H Street Corridor, with a menu spanning vegetarian, meat, poultry, and fish dishes including injera, kitfo, and doro wat. Traditional Ethiopian ingredients are used to keep the flavors close to those of Ethiopia. The dining room takes its design cues from the script of Ge'ez, the ancient language the restaurant is named for. Reservations, online ordering, and gift cards are available.

Meseret and Samuel Ergete opened the restaurant after moving to Washington, DC, and finding no quality Ethiopian restaurant near where they lived. They set out to create a gathering place for the area's Ethiopian community, estimated at around 35,000 people, as well as anyone curious about the cuisine. It was the first Ethiopian restaurant on the H Street Corridor and the couple has run it for more than 15 years.
