Bar & grill in Cincinnati, OH
A neighborhood bar and grill in Cheviot serving a German- and Irish-influenced menu, with scratch-made pizza and burgers that have been recognized by local media as among Cincinnati's best. Fifteen tap handles pour local brews, and the pub is certified by Guinness Brewmaster Fergal Murray to pour the perfect pint, along with layered combinations like the Black and Tan, Half and Half, and the BearCat. The 7,000-square-foot space includes a dining area, party room available for rental, and a large outdoor patio with more than a dozen flat screens. Weekly events include Monday trivia and live acoustic music on Wednesdays and some weekend nights.
The bar opened in 2008 as The Black Sheep Public House. In August 2012 it was featured on Spike TV's "Bar Rescue" with host Jon Taffer, who remade the space and menu and rebranded it as The Public House; team members were flown to the Guinness Brewery in Dublin as part of the process. The kitchen concept draws on the German and Irish ancestries of the surrounding Cincinnati community, and the pub hosts fundraisers, pub crawls, and other community events.
