About The New Romantics
A romance-only bookstore on Corrine Drive stocking every corner of the genre, with shelves organized by category — romantasy, contemporary, young adult, historical, dark, LGBTQIA+, small town, sports, billionaire — and also by trope, from enemies to lovers and grumpy x sunshine to fake dating and closed door. Beyond books, the shop carries apparel, stickers, bookmarks, Kindle charms and other merch, plus a book box subscription, gift cards, preorder campaigns, UK editions and libros en español. Events are held at the store, and online orders ship free over a set threshold. The stated aim is a safe, inclusive space for all romance readers built around community and connection.
Founded by Jane Rodriguez, who describes opening a romance bookstore as a lifelong dream and identifies herself as an entrepreneur and hopeless romantic living in Orlando. She writes about drawing on her lived experience as a Latina balancing Cuban and American sides of her life, and wanting the store to be welcoming to everyone regardless of gender, race, sexuality, religion, ability or age. The site thanks a long list of individual donors who contributed to help open the brick-and-mortar location.
