Richard West previously served as Executive Director of the Office of Consumer Protection within the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, the agency housing most of the state's professional licensing boards. The practice covers all 21 New Jersey counties and also handles small business representation, with free initial consultations.

Richard West grew up in Spring Lake, New Jersey, earned a political science degree from the University of Delaware in 1985 and a JD from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1990. He began his career as an associate at Sills Cummis, later worked at Cohen Shapiro and at International Business Research doing due diligence and litigation support, then joined the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, where he led the Office of Consumer Protection and supervised the Charities Registration Unit. That state experience shaped his focus on professional licensing defense and consumer fraud. He left the DCA in 2002 for a small practice, Savage West, and opened his own firm in January 2005.
