About Tarheel Therapeutic Massage

Tarheel Therapeutic Massage is Katrina Magbie’s practice at 105 Market St in Louisburg, built specifically around relief of neck, shoulder and back pain. Sessions blend Swedish and deep tissue with advanced stretching, and are priced by length: 30 minutes $55, 45 minutes $70, 60 minutes $100, 75 minutes $125, 90 minutes $145 and 120 minutes $220. The shorter sessions target one or two problem areas; the longer ones work the whole body with more time on what hurts. She is also certified in reflexology, cupping, lymphatic massage and prenatal massage, offered at 60 or 90 minutes and recommended after the first trimester. Couple’s massages run in a dedicated room, Fridays only between 3pm and 7pm, at $225 for 60 minutes and $295 for 90. A separate Head Spa menu uses Natulique organic products: a 45-minute session at $112 (scalp analysis, botanical exfoliation, shampoo and conditioning, head, neck and shoulder massage, hair mist), a 60-minute Deluxe at $150 that adds steam therapy, a hydration mask, a basic facial cleanse and facial massage, and the Serenity Package at $207 pairing a 60-minute massage with the 45-minute Head Spa. Head Spa treatments are booked separately and cannot be combined with massage discounts, gift certificates or packages, and are postponed if a scalp assessment finds open wounds or an active flare-up. Massage packages of 3, 4 or 7 sessions carry an extra 15% off — for example three 60-minute sessions at $234 instead of $300. Card payments add a 4% processing fee, so cash or check avoids it. Gift certificates are available. Open Monday to Wednesday 10am–7pm, Thursday 12pm–6:30pm, Friday 12pm–7pm and Saturday 10am–3pm. Cancellations need 24 hours’ notice; less than that is $35 or 50% of the session, and under two hours or a no-show is the full rate. Arrive 10–15 minutes early — a late arrival gets whatever time is left of the booked session.

Katrina Magbie opened Tarheel Therapeutic Massage in 2019, first working out of her home and then moving into a location in Louisburg that let her take on more clients. It was a deliberate second career. She had spent over 19 years with the state of North Carolina providing healthcare and training services to people with intellectual disabilities, and although she valued the work in mental health, she wanted a change that kept her helping people one at a time. Massage therapy was it. The practice is narrow on purpose: upper-body pain relief, the neck, shoulders and back. That focus is personal — she and many of the people close to her live with exactly that kind of tightness, and she is direct about understanding how stress and being overwhelmed settle into the muscles. Her stated mission is simply to provide pain relief so clients can live life to the fullest, and her approach is a treatment plan built for the individual rather than a set routine, with the expectation that clients speak up during a session so she can adjust. Since then the practice has grown beyond the table. She added Head Spa treatments using Natulique organic products — scalp therapy, facial massage and holistic haircare — and a couple’s room for shared sessions. She holds NC massage licence #17834 and certifications in advanced stretch therapy, reflexology, prenatal massage, cupping and lymphatic massage, and was named a Best of BusinessRate 2025 massage therapist for Louisburg.
