About SASSY Natural LLC

A natural hair studio built around braiding, run by a licensed Natural Hair Care Specialist. The book covers box and knotless braids, feed-ins, Fulani braids, miracle knot braids, micro braids and cornrows, plus twists, crochet, sew-ins, locs, natural styles, men’s styles and a dedicated kids’ list for ages 11 and under. Every appointment comes with education — the products and techniques right for your hair, not a generic routine — because healthy hair is treated as the point rather than a by-product. SASSY Natural also teaches: one-on-one braiding and parting classes, each including a kit with everything you need to practise, arranged by email or Instagram. Booking is online, with a waitlist so you can register a preferred time and be moved up if a cancellation opens it. Cancellations are accepted up to 48 hours before a service; inside 48 hours, 50% of the cost is charged. Open Tuesday to Thursday 9am–5pm and Friday 9am–8pm; closed Sunday. Desiree moved to North Carolina from Boston in 2017, became a licensed Natural Hair Care Specialist, and opened SASSY Natural LLC in Durham in 2022. The business operates in partnership with Ultimate Styles Hair Salon to run US Hair Salon, which gives clients a fuller salon setting and more scheduling options, and gives up-and-coming stylists somewhere to start. Three things are stated as founding principles: healthy hair, taught as well as delivered; community involvement through mentoring, volunteering, donating and philanthropy; and empowerment — building relationships that lift other people, with an open invitation to anyone wanting to learn about the natural hair industry to call and ask.
