Yvette, a Sierra Leonean immigrant who came to the U.S. in 2005, founded the salon. She began braiding friends' and siblings' hair at age 10 and later earned a natural hair care specialist and braider license. She worked in braiding shops in Ohio, Maryland and North Carolina, then styled models for magazines for Noble Supreme from 2011 to 2013. She became CEO of the South Carolina salon in 2014.
