Roger A. McLean founded the firm in 1996 after retiring as Vice-Chancellor of Business & Finance at Elizabeth City State University. His auditing and university finance background first drew him toward helping colleges maintain financial accreditation, but his main work became individual and business tax preparation. After his death in 2016, longtime associate Michael A. Godfrey purchased the business and kept the name in his memory.
