About Paul Gant's Bar B Que
Paul Gant's Bar-B-Que serves slow-cooked barbecue in Port St. Joe, Florida. The kitchen turns out Boston butt, ribs and chicken by the sandwich, dinner plate, pound or whole rack, plus whole hams and turkeys. Sides include potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw and collard greens, with peach cobbler, banana pudding and sweet potato pie for dessert. The family sauce is sold by the bottle. Catering covers weddings, company events and private parties.
Paul Gant Sr. learned barbecue from an uncle who ran a restaurant in Port St. Joe. After being drafted and serving, he opened a cabinet shop and a barbecue shop on Main Street. While working at Arizona Chemical, he cooked for night shift workers, who urged him to expand. The business settled at its HWY 98 location. Since his death in 2015, his wife and son have carried it on.
