About Odom's Bar-B-Que
A family-run West Dallas barbecue stand with inside seating and carry-out, serving sliced beef, chopped beef, ribs (including lean small-end cuts) and link sausage as sandwiches or plates. Catering is available for events from 10 to 1,000 guests, with meals packed for pickup or delivered, and menus built to a set budget. The restaurant was voted Best Ribs in Dallas in 2006 and named one of D Magazine's Best Neighborhood Restaurants in 2008.
The business traces back to Hardeman's Bar-B-Que Restaurant, founded by Chester Field Hardeman just north of downtown Dallas in the 1930s and eventually expanded to four locations. One of those locations was sold to in-laws in 1990 and renamed Odom's Bar-B-Que on Singleton Blvd. Belinda Odom Gaston, who had worked at her uncle and aunt's Hardeman's as a child and later ran a beauty salon for 15 years, bought and renamed the restaurant with her mother, Bettie Odom, and they run it with help from many of the family's children and grandchildren.
