Mr Everything Cafe is an Atlanta institution founded by Monica and William Jayson Smith, who arrived in Atlanta in 1991 and opened the original cafe in 1993 to serve the Atlanta University Center community and the surrounding businesses. Recognized in local press as one of the top five Black-owned businesses in Atlanta for over a quarter-century, the cafe built its reputation on a simple concept: healthy, made-to-order food that feels like something from your own neighborhood. The menu centers on customizable sandwiches, salads, burgers, hot dogs, and rice dishes, each prepared to order with grilled toppings like onions, mushrooms, green peppers, broccoli, spinach, and a choice of three cheeses, along with vegetarian options for customers who want a lighter meal. What began as a single storefront on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive has grown into a small regional chain with locations in Atlanta, Fairburn, and Fayetteville, plus corporate stores and local franchises across Georgia. The original MLK Drive location marked its 30th anniversary with a grand reopening in December 2023, celebrating three decades of serving the Westside community. The business remains a family operation, with the Smiths' eight children and ten grandchildren involved in the venture, and the family has also expanded into a food truck concept carrying the Mr Everything name. The open-kitchen setup at each location reflects the founders' emphasis on transparency and connection, and longtime customers are recognized by name when they walk through the door. Monica and William Jayson Smith moved to Atlanta in 1991 with a vision for a restaurant that could serve the Atlanta University Center community and the businesses around it.
