A curated vintage rack rather than a bin to dig through: MOM’s buys for character and history, with inclusive sizing so the sustainable option is not restricted to one body type. The shop sits at 304 South Driver Street, Suite 102, in a brick storefront in Old East Durham. Alongside the floor it runs the Old East Durham Trunk Club — Durham’s first Black-owned vintage-inspired subscription, $69.95 a month for three pieces personally picked by Maylon against your style profile and size, with free local pickup or delivery inside Durham County, no hidden fees, pause for a month or cancel any time. Members get quarterly members-only parties (bring friends), early access to new collections, member pricing and community styling sessions. Open Monday and Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 5pm; closed Tuesday.

MOM’s | Middle of May started as founder Maylon Rowland’s passion project — sustainable style and community connection — and grew into a Black-owned, family-run vintage shop in the heart of historic Old East Durham. The premise is that every garment already has a story and the job is to give it a second one. The shop treats itself as a gathering place as much as a store, and its Trunk Club, launched as Durham’s first Black-owned vintage-inspired subscription service, pairs monthly deliveries with quarterly parties for members. Rowland describes the work as continuing a legacy of Black entrepreneurship and authentic self-expression in the neighbourhood where the shop took root.
