About L'allegria Restaurant

A full-service Italian ristorante serving lunch, dinner, and a cafe menu seven days a week, with dishes such as bucatini all'amatriciana, handmade fusilli with Sunday ragù and bufala ricotta, veal cotoletta, filet mignon medallions in tarragon-tomato purée, and free-range chicken in garlic and oil. The kitchen staff is New York City-trained, and the wine cellar draws on Italy's various regions. The dining room has the casual feel of al fresco dining in a Mediterranean courtyard with European-style service, and the cafe suits pre- or post-theater cocktails, dessert, and cappuccino. A party menu and private event space accommodate bridal and baby showers, corporate events, rehearsal and retirement dinners, family reunions, and funeral receptions; gift certificates are available in custom amounts.

Brothers Saverio and Giovanni Allocca conceived the restaurant and opened it in early 1984 to bring authentic Italian flavors to Madison. They have run it since with a stated focus on fresh products presented innovatively while adhering to Italian tradition. The restaurant has received the DiRoNA (Distinguished Restaurants of North America) award and an OpenTable Diners' Choice award in 2023.
