About Kali Steak

Kali is a neighborhood restaurant at 5722 Melrose Avenue, tucked between Hollywood and Larchmont Village, that has recently reimagined itself as, in its own words, "a fresh vision of the classic Hollywood steakhouse." The restaurant was created by lifelong friends and co-workers Chef Kevin Meehan and Drew Langley, who set out to build a high-end restaurant without the pretension typically associated with fine dining. After roughly a decade operating as a Michelin-recognized tasting-menu restaurant with wine pairings, Kali shifted its format to focus on expertly sourced steaks, premium sides, and craft cocktails such as ice-cold martinis. Despite the format change, the restaurant says its underlying philosophy has stayed the same: stripping fine dining down to its essentials of "ingredient, technique, and service," delivered in a casual, welcoming environment. The menu draws on local and hyper-seasonal farmers' market ingredients, given what the restaurant calls a contemporary twist and Californian sensibility. Kali describes the dining experience as "savoring fantastic food and drinks in a lively, relaxed setting — no pretense, just genuine hospitality." The restaurant is open Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 6 to 10PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 5 to 10PM, and is closed on Tuesdays. Through its evolution from tasting-menu fine dining to a steakhouse concept, Kali has maintained a consistent commitment to quality ingredients and attentive, unpretentious service.
