About Inner City Blues home of Carolina Bar B Que
Inner City Blues serves Carolina barbecue and Southern soul food in Richmond's East End. The kitchen smokes pork ribs, brisket, wings and minced North Carolina pork, and sells meat by the pound. Burgers, fish and shrimp sandwiches, chitterlings dinners and sides like collards, mac and cheese and candied yams round out the menu. Food is carry-out only.
Lamont and Alisha Hawkins opened a 320-square-foot takeout restaurant in Richmond's Jackson Ward in 2014. A dispute with the building owner closed it. They then relocated to 3015 Nine Mile Road, home of Carolina Bar B Que, a Churchill staple since 1970. Owners Thomas "T.C." and Mildred Harrell retired after 44 years and handed the business to the couple, Armstrong High School alumni who ate there as children.
