The company was founded in 1973 when John DeCicco Sr. convinced his family to buy a small grocery store in the Bronx where he had worked as a delivery boy. Over more than 50 years it expanded across Westchester and Putnam Counties, and sons John Jr., Chris, and Joe Jr. now operate ten stores. The company works with schools, town organizations, churches, and Chamber of Commerce groups, and sponsors the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
