French restaurant, Cajun restaurant, Restaurant in Mandeville, LA
Classic French country-style New Orleans cooking served in a casual room with fine-dining touches. The menu and daily specials lean on fresh local fish such as redfish, speckled trout and red snapper, plus jumbo Gulf shrimp, duck confit, lump crab cakes, pan-seared lamb chops and filet mignon au poivre, with butter and cream sauce options on many entrees. Chef Joey's style favors simple ingredients like chopped garlic, parsley and olive oil rather than trendy dishes. A full-service bar, hand-picked wine list, family meal portions and catering round out the offerings.
Chef-owner Joey Najolia, a Slidell native and Delgado Culinary graduate, trained classically in France under mentor Chris Kerageorgio, staged in Orleans and Pardou, cooked under Chef Jonathan Wright at The Windsor Court Grill Room, and served as executive chef at La Provence until 2007. His wife Brandi's background includes managing and serving at La Provence, where the two met, dining room captain and trainer at Broussard's in the French Quarter, and catering management around Mandeville. The couple opened Cafe Lynn in 2007 in a building that had been a Burger King, and later moved to their current Florida Street location. They now run it as a family restaurant on the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain.
