About Buttermilk Boutique
Buttermilk Boutique is a boutique pastry company making hand-crafted pies, cakes, breads and pastries. Chef Tie Whittaker builds nostalgic, luxury desserts around southern flavors with detailed presentation and design. Ingredients come from North Carolina farmers and purveyors, including free-range eggs and local fruit. The bakery also runs Sunday Service, scratch-made meals from Tie and her husband Glen. Desserts appear at farmer's markets, local shops and monthly afternoon teas in Clayton.
Tie Whittaker baked pies, breads and cobblers with her grandmother Angel as a child. After Angel died of cancer in 2010, Tie left a law path for pastry, completing Boston University's Master of Liberal Arts in Gastronomy. She spent two years running high-end Boston bakeries and working at Cakes To Remember, then returned South. Buttermilk Boutique, LLC was born in 2015 in Clayton, NC.
