About Black Chamber of Commerce of Northwest Indiana

The Black Chamber of Commerce of Northwest Indiana is a nonprofit economic development organization serving small businesses across the region. It connects entrepreneurs to capital, lenders, mentors and procurement opportunities through partnerships and grants. Programs include education and training curricula, technology access, workforce and digital skills training, and pro-bono advising. The Chamber also advocates for policy reform, federal programs and inclusive procurement, and offers memberships, events and technical assistance.

Dr. (hon) Lois Whittaker founded the Chamber to address a gap in the region: the lack of coordinated, results-driven support for small businesses in distressed communities. She built it as a centralized hub for access to capital, workforce alignment, strategic partnerships and business intelligence. It operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
