About Big Dave's Cheesesteaks
Big Dave's Cheesesteaks serves hand-chopped, made-to-order Philly cheesesteaks on fresh Amoroso's rolls. Beef and chicken are halal, and salmon and veggie versions round out the menu. Steaks come three ways: Regular, Classic and Big Dave. Sides include cheesesteak egg rolls in beef, chicken, buffalo chicken or salmon, Philly fries, water ice and Mama Hayes' banana pudding. Locations span Georgia, Florida, the Carolinas, with catering, a food truck and franchising.
Derrick Hayes grew up in West Philadelphia, learning to cook with his grandfather. After personal hardship, he moved to Atlanta and found the cheesesteaks lacking, so he opened his own inside a 700-square-foot Dunwoody gas station, first called Dave's Philly Water Ice. He named the business for his late father. It has since grown across five states and was named to the Forbes Next 1000.
