About African American Chamber of Commerce of PA NJ DE
A membership organization advocating for Black-owned and minority-owned businesses across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, with a focus on the Greater Philadelphia region. Members gain access to a business directory, business resources and research, and programs including the AACC Peership Program, Coaching to Capital, Invest In Black Philly, a Concessions Entrepreneurship Cohort, and an install partner pathway program with Power Home Remodeling. The Chamber also runs a year-round events calendar — the State of the AACC, a Women's Business Empowerment Luncheon, the Holiday Noir Soirée, an Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony, and a National Convening of Black Mayors — and works on policy advocacy around procurement, tax structures, and access to capital through partnerships with financial institutions, developers, and public agencies.
The Chamber was formed in 1993 in response to a legal challenge by contractors' associations documenting discrimination against African-Americans in city contracting. In 2004, the African-American Foundation was established as a non-profit arm of the Chamber to promote economic empowerment through educational and charitable means. Regina A. Hairston became president and CEO effective January 2021. The organization is governed by a board of directors chaired by James Sanders.
