About 6888 Kitchen Incubator

6888 Kitchen Incubator rents shared commercial kitchen space to food entrepreneurs in the historic Dayton Arcade. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit offers hourly and unlimited memberships, prep stations, dry, cooler and freezer storage, and 24-hour keycard access to a fully equipped facility. Members also receive training in food safety, licensing, marketing and product development, plus business mentoring. Programs include a Catering Collective and a Summer Marketplace. Leadership is woman-, minority- and service-disabled-veteran-led.

The incubator takes its name from the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, the only all-Black Women's Army Corps unit deployed overseas in WWII, commanded by Dayton resident Major Charity Adams. Charlynda Scales, Dabriah Rice and Jamaica White founded the organization. Construction began in the Dayton Arcade in 2022, and the kitchen later marked its second anniversary with an expansion.
